Greene Release Date Basics
A scheduled release date is a forecast or computed date. The actual release date is the date the person physically leaves that custody. In Greene County, those two dates may come from different offices. The sheriff can confirm when a person left Greene County Jail. The best release-date path changes with the last known custody. Do not start with a single statewide search if the person may be in Greene County Jail. Greene Good-Time Calculations

Truth-in-sentencing is also not a blanket rule that every Alabama inmate serves the same percentage. Alabama's sentencing standards and Ala. Code Section 12-25-36 involve minimum and extended terms plus post-release supervision for sentences imposed under those standards. Why Greene Dates Change
A projected date can move for reasons that are not visible in a simple name search. ADOC says the minimum release date can change because of discipline that removes good time or because the circuit clerk sends new cases or changes the current sentence. ABPP adds another layer when parole eligibility, a parole grant, home-plan verification, or mandatory release supervision is involved.

Code Section 36-22-8 requires the sheriff to keep a book in the office, open to public inspection during office hours, showing the order and date of commitment and the order and date of release. Ask for the booking/release record, order and date of release, release reason, booking number if available, charge, arresting agency, and whether the release was to the community, bond, court, ADOC, another county, USMS, ICE, or another agency.
